Sabbath: Living Sabbath in a Busy World
You were created to live like a human—finite, beloved, and fragile.
Matthew 11:28–30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
In Mark 2:27, it says, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”
Prioritize Rest in Your Weekly Schedule
We treat our souls like machines, but God designed them like gardens.
Why does rest feel so much like a battle?
The fear of falling behind
The fear of irrelevance
The fear of losing control
The fear of disappointing others
It is the space between our load and our limit
What drains me unnecessarily?
What fills my soul?
What does protected time look like?
Let God’s Rhythm Guide Your Life, Not the World’s Pace
Consider the difference between a life of striving and a life of surrender
Worldly Pace vs Jesus' Rhythm
Urgency: Everything is a crisis.
Presence: Everything is an encounter.
Accumulation: Life is measured by what you "do."
Abiding: Life is measured by who you "remain" in.
Exhaustion: The result of self-reliance.
Endurance: The result of shared strength.
True Sabbath Rest Leads to Joy, Peace, and Renewed Purpose
Soul rest is the internal stabilization of the heart. It is a peace that isn't shaken by shifting circumstances. A joy that isn't tied to your latest metrics or productivity. A purpose that flows from who you are (identity) rather than what you do (pressure).
Too Fast → Burnout: We become brittle, reactive, and hollowed out. We produce "noise" rather than music.
Too Slow → Apathy: We lose our sense of mission and drift into a lethargy that lacks the vibrant energy of the Spirit.
Does peace rise... or does anxiety?
Sabbath is not about perfection; it’s about direction.
